Pupil Premium
At Coventry Academy, we are committed to ensuring that all our students—particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds—receive the support they need to succeed. Our Pupil Premium Strategy for 2024–25 outlines how we are using government funding to address the challenges faced by our students and narrow the attainment gap between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged learners.
Key Aims:
-
Improve literacy outcomes and ensure all students develop strong reading skills.
-
Provide targeted SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) support to help students manage emotions and build resilience.
-
Increase attendance and engagement, ensuring students access a broad and balanced curriculum.
-
Offer vocational and enrichment opportunities that nurture aspirations and prepare students for future success.
How We Use Pupil Premium Funding:
-
Enhanced Curriculum and Vocational Learning: Hands-on work-related learning opportunities, community sports programmes, and music enrichment to boost engagement and self-esteem.
-
Targeted Support and Interventions: One-to-one coaching, SEMH support, and specialised assessments to meet individual needs.
-
Access to Essentials and Experiences: Funding for school essentials, uniform support, and educational visits to ensure all students can participate fully.
Our Impact: Last year, 27 students successfully returned to mainstream settings after SEMH interventions, and 49 students transitioned to positive outcomes after leaving Coventry Academy. Additionally, 80% of students engaging with SEMH programmes met their goals, and vocational qualifications were achieved by 8 Year 11 students.
We are dedicated to providing a learning environment where every student, regardless of background, can thrive and realise their potential.
